Wellington Management Expands Wealth Coverage in Hong Kong with Addition of Four Equity Funds for Retail Segment

Press Release

The four fund offerings provide individual investors with capital growth opportunities, designed to leverage long-term structural change and attractive fundamentals, with focuses on education, sustainability, and brand power.

Hong Kong, 5 December 2023 – Wellington Management (“Wellington” or the “Firm”), one of the world’s largest independent investment management firms, today announced the registration of four fund offerings in Hong Kong – Wellington Next Generation Education Fund, Wellington Next Generation Global Equity Fund, Wellington Sustainable Outcomes Fund, and Wellington US Brand Power Fund. Managed by seasoned portfolio managers, these funds provide capital growth opportunities through unique thematic exposure, expanding the firm’s suite of investment products first registered in 2022.

Samuel Hui, Wellington’s Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Global Wealth Management Group, commented, “The expansion of our fund range reflects our commitment to the mass affluent and wealth segments, which is of strategic importance for the firm. The investment funds enable clients to capitalise on potentially high growth areas that we believe are typically overlooked by traditional indices: the democratisation of education; companies that may benefit from sustainable economic development; companies that drive measurable change resulting in positive social and environmental outcomes; and high-quality US companies with strong brands.”

In particular, the two Next Generation funds combine Wellington’s strong expertise on environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) and unique interpretation of thematic investing. Hui added, “The funds underscore the in-depth and diverse perspectives of Wellington’s proprietary investment research teams, including our ESG-research capabilities, leveraging the firm’s longstanding effort that aims to identify high impact and differentiated investment themes which we believe will unfold within the next decade.”

Wellington continues to expand its UCITS offerings across equities, fixed income and multi-asset strategies for the wealth channel in Asia, one of the fastest-growing sectors in the firm’s regional operations.

“This year marks our 20th year in Hong Kong and looking ahead, I am confident we will continue to offer funds to meet the growing demand and varied interests of investors,” said Hui.
