Investing in founders redefining industries

private hero background image

We invest where differentiated access meets institutional insight. By partnering early with underinvested and overlooked founders, we aim to unlock compelling entry points and build meaningful ownership from the start. We bring the full power of Wellington’s platform to source, win, and scale companies, supporting their path from early traction to market leadership.

As a repeat founder, I’ve learned that choosing the right investors is just as important as building the right product. With WAV, I knew I was partnering with a team that adds value beyond capital. Their deep industry expertise, strategic guidance, and relentless support can help accelerate Phynd’s growth.

Irina Margine, Sector Lead for Biotech Private Investments at Wellington, has been named to this year’s WSJ Pro Private Equity Women to Watch list.

The annual recognition from The Wall Street Journal highlights women across private equity whose investment work and leadership are helping shape the direction of the industry.

Irina’s path into investing began in the lab. With scientific training in microbiology, she brings technical fluency to conversations with founders and management teams working on complex therapies. That combination of scientific depth and long-term investment perspective continues to shape how we approach private biotech investing.

Wellington Management did not pay a fee to be considered for this award. Winners were selected by Wall Street Journal Pro Private Equity based on nominations submitted by their individual firms. This award was announced on 9 March, 2026, and is based on Irina Margine’s career experience 2014 to present with a focus on her time as an investor at Wellington Management from 2019 to present. Wellington Management was one of the winners in the Senior Deal Makers category. WSJ Pro Private Equity’s Women to Watch honorees are evaluated on a holistic basis, with senior professionals assessed based on career‑long accomplishments. Honorees are selected through an editorial process based on nominations, written submission materials, and independent editorial review by WSJ Pro. The recognition is not paid, not client‑survey‑based, not tied to subscription status, and is not an endorsement or predictor of investment performance.
