Our approach to sustainability
Impact investing seeks to deliver financial returns by intentionally investing in companies whose core goods, services, or projects help solve the world’s biggest social or environmental problems.
In our impact strategies, we aim to achieve positive, measurable social and environmental outcomes alongside competitive financial returns.
Many of our investments have material exposure to at least one of our impact themes, provide solutions that are “additional” (unlikely to be provided by other means or entities), and have measurable impact key performance indicators (KPIs). Our impact themes align with and support many of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
We invest worldwide across three broad impact categories — Life essentials, Human empowerment, and Environment — which are further divided into 11 impact themes. We believe impact investment opportunities can represent innovative solutions across sectors and industries, in companies and issuers across market capitalisations. All our impact investments must offer material exposure to least one of our impact themes, have a low prospect of being met by other means, and their impact can be measured and tracked. Our fundamental analysis must support the potential for attractive long term returns.
We believe the companies and issuers we invest in offer innovative solutions to many of the world’s social and environmental challenges. Their core goods, services or projects offer material exposure to least one of our impact themes, their solutions have a low prospect of being met by other means, and their impact can be measured and tracked.
See impact highlights from the past year, along with the measurable results the companies and issuers we invest in are delivering.
