Security FAQ

Wellington uses many security measures to protect you and your accounts. We want your access to be secure as well as convenient. Here are just a few of the measures we take:

  • Implementing Email Address and password requirements
When you set up your online access, you are required to provide an Email Address and password, allowing you safe and secure access to your accounts. We have monitoring and other protective procedures in place, some of which are visible to clients, such as limits on password entry attempts.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication
When setting up your account, you are given the option to set up an alternative method to verify your account. This is an extra measure that is put in place to prevent an unauthorized individual from getting access to your account.
  • Client verification
When you contact Wellington Management Company, we verify your identity before granting you access to your accounts.
  • Encryption
We employ some of the strongest methods of encryption commercially available today, protecting your personal information, like your username and password or the contents of your portfolio, as it travels from your computer to our systems.
  • Firewalls
We protect our all of our computer systems with firewalls, or electronic barriers that prevent unauthorized access to our networks.
  • Timed logoff
We will automatically log you off after 30 minutes of inactivity. This reduces the risk that others could access your information from your unattended computer.
  • Systems surveillance
Our security teams monitor our systems around the clock, ensuring you have timely and secure access to your accounts.
  • Relationship team education
Our relationship teams receive thorough training on our security policies and are held accountable for adhering to them. Relationship team members who work directly with clients also receive awareness training on best practices to protect any personal information.

Adding another verification method is another way of verifying that an authorized user is logging into your account. The measure is put in place to reduce the risk of an unauthorized individual from trying to get access to your account.

Currently, it is not required that users set up an alternative method but, it is highly recommended to do so to ensure that your account is secure.

Phishing is a scheme that utilizes legitimate-looking spam emails and phony websites to deceive you into disclosing personal information. You can avoid phishing by following these tips:

  • Be skeptical of emails offering you money.
If an email seems suspicious, do not open it or click links within it. Just delete it from your inbox.
  • Do not share personal information with a website that is not encrypted.
A secure website will include an "s" after the "http" portion of the website address.
  • Question whether you have a relationship with this company.
If so, ask yourself whether they typically contact you and ask for information in this manner. If you want to confirm that an email or request from Wellington Management is valid you should contact your relationship team.
  • Do not try to access your account using a link from a suspicious email.
If a suspicious email asks you to log into your account, go to Wellington Management website directly to log in. Do not use the link in the email to log in.

A strong password can be your first line of defense against someone trying to access one of your online accounts. When creating or changing a password for your Wellington Management Account, the “Password Requirements” will ensure you follow standard password practice. In addition, try using these tips when creating your password:

  • Avoid predictable or easily guessed passwords.
This includes your date of birth, nickname, pet's name-or your Social Security number, which is fairly easy for someone to obtain.
  • Do not reuse passwords.
Passwords can be difficult to remember, but if an unauthorized person can gain access to one of them, many more accounts for which you have the same login could be compromised.
  • Keep your passwords and reminders safe.
Treat your passwords like the key to your home. If you must write them down, keep them in a safe place or in a computer file with an unassuming filename. Consider using a password vault or password keeper application to help you remember your passwords.
  • Never provide your password in response to an email.
No reputable company will ever ask you for your username and password in an email. If you get such an email, it is likely a scam or phishing.

If you suspect the online security of your Wellington Management Account has been compromised contact your relationship team immediately and change your Email Address and password.

If you're concerned that an email you've received is fraudulent, or you want to confirm that the email is really from Wellington Management Company, contact your relationship team.
