Technical equity strategies
We analyze stock price trends and shifting supply-and-demand dynamics in the financial markets.
EXPLOITING TRENDS AND PATTERNS
Technical analysis, the study of supply and demand for securities, is based on the premises that prices hold information and that practitioners can discern positive flows of capital from negative ones. These flows may be manifested in directional price trends over time that, through observable patterns of accumulation, distribution, and relative strength, reflect market expectations for improving or deteriorating fundamental developments for a security or sector.

We seek to build portfolios of stocks with what we consider to be the most attractive price trends from a technical perspective, emphasizing strong momentum relative to the market.
OUR APPROACH
Wellington Management has applied technical analysis to portfolio management for almost 40 years. We believe that identifying and investing along patterns of positive price trends can help support capital growth, while recognizing negative price trends can serve as a reliable form of risk control.
The experienced Technical Analysis team’s independent process — combined with the depth of Wellington Management’s resources — is its strength and distinguishing feature.
