June 2008 Dear Contributor, Summer has arrived, but for many of our grantees, that does not mean school is out! From the high seas to the big city, the variety of learning opportunities our organizations are offering their students will enhance both their educations and their lives. Read on to discover the enriching experiences your investment in education is helping to provide students all summer long! Summer Studies Epiphany’s middle school students start the summer by living on a sailboat with the Ocean’s Classroom Foundation for a week before heading off to the Groton School to for a month of academic enrichment. Julie’s Family Learning Program takes advantage of the warm weather, engaging the preschoolers in motor skill development activities outdoors and having youngsters complete literacy activities with their parents based on seasonally-themed books. MSPCC’s Kid’s Day summer programming enables elementary students to learn about Massachusetts first-hand through weekly field trips that take them outside of the city; visiting various museums, parks, beaches, farms, and historical sites.
